Do you know which of the places in the world are the most highly visited places? There are some parts of the world which are very well developed only because there tourism is very well developed. The nation which has the highest per capita income figures in the world, Switzerland, is solely dependent upon its tourism industry. As with Switzerland, there are many other places in this world which are highly visited. United States of America is one such place. New York happens to be one of those settlements in the world which receive the highest number of visitors every year. Times Square is located in the New York City. It is located at the junction of the Seventh Avenue and Broadway. It is located stretching from the streets number 42 till 47. The actual area of the Times Square is made up of the blocks which are located between the avenues of sixth and eighth number in the East to West dimensions. From North to south the Times Square stretches the West streets number 40 till 53rd. The Midtown Manhattan area has Times Square towards its western side.
There are many pother squares in the world which are also popular. These squares include Trafalgar Square and Red Square. Although there are few other popular squares of the world as well, but none other square is as popular as the Times Square of the New York City. The New York City is identified by many through this iconic feature. The Times Square has digital advertisements which make it extremely bright and well lit. These advertisements are one of the reasons of the popularity of this square. The Area actually belonged to military personnel who served the army and the name of that person was John Scott. Initially the place was all wildernesses and there was a lot of vegetation there. In the long run John Astor became its owner and he started selling off this precious property to different businesses when the city started expanding.
In the first decade of the 20th century, the area was names ad Times Square for the first time. In 1904 the first advertisement of the Times Square appeared in the square, near a bank. The advertisement was placed between Broadway and the corner of 46th street. The original building of the Times Square is now called as the old Times Square. This place is unique in many senses. It is well known to the world because of the ball which is dropped from the top of this building on the Eve of New Year, every year. With the passage of time the Times Square has grown at a very fast pace. It has now become not only a commercially important area but is also the cultural hub of New York City. In all stages of its life, the Times Square has been famous due to the relationship with many of the celebrities. With the great Depression of the 1900s the situation changed. The nature and the way businesses were conducted changed and all these things made their mark on the Times Square as well.
