The Taj Mahal is considered to be one of the wonders of engineering of the modern world. It is a beautiful building which is said to be the proof of the love of an emperor for his wife. The Taj Mahal stands on the side of River Jamuna in Agra. Agra is one of the most populous and important tourist destinations in India. The Taj Mahal was constructed by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. Shah Jahan was deeply in love with his wife Mumtaz Mahal. They lived a very happy and long married life. After Mumtaz Mahal died, Shah Jahan ordered the engineers to build a mausoleum for her, which was to be the most beautiful and peaceful place for her to rest. The engineers paid all due attention towards even the most minor details and built a mausoleum which is considered to be one of the Modern Wonders of the world. The engineering of this building is unique and there are many features in Taj Mahal Agra which are still not clear to those who know how buildings were constructed in those days. The engineering of Taj Mahal is sophisticated in comparison to the engineering facilities which existed in those days. The construction of Taj Mahal started in 1632. The construction took place over a period of 16 years. The Taj Mahal was completely built in 1648. Ahmad Lahori who was considered to be the master of the art, created the original design. There is some confusion regarding this information in the history. Most of the historians believe that Ustad Ahmad was the one who designed Taj Mahal. There were a number of people and engineers in his group who helped him in making the modifications to the original design. The construction took almost 16 years to complete. There are some very special theories and stories attached to the Taj Mahal. Most frequently The Taj Mahal is called as The Taj in India. It is a very refined and extremely beautiful example of the Mughal architecture. Mughals were a family of kings who ruled the sub continent for more than 300 years. This family of Muslim rulers is unique and different form the other Muslim rulers because most of these people were so much fond of architecture and fine arts which is very unlike many Muslim families of rulers. Taj Mahal is one of the world Heritage Sites. It joined the list in 1983. The dome of Taj Mahal is a very prominent feature of this building. It is an amazingly beautiful building. It attracts the visitors to India from all parts of the world. The Taj Mahal was actually built with the River Jamuna flowing in the back drop. Today, the pollution in the surrounding areas is eroding the place. The marble used in the construction is pure white. It is becoming grey due to the pollution. It is a very nice place to visit. People enjoy visiting Taj Mahal a lot. Taj Mahal represents India in more than one sense of the word. Comments (0)
