Although there are many pyramids in the region there, but the three of the best known ones are located in Giza. These are bigger and more important pyramids.

In fact any structure which is three dimensional in nature with the triangular upper surfaces can be considered as a pyramid. The surfaces should be converging at one point on the top. But in the terms of history and science of engineering and construction, we mostly refer to the Egyptian pyramids when we talk about the pyramids. These pyramids are included in the list of wonders of the world of all times. Many ancient wonders of the world are no more there but the Egyptian Pyramids are still there. The reason behind the pyramids being the favorite shape of the engineers in old days was that only a pyramid can bear that much weight which was used to build a pyramid or Egyptian tomb. The ideal shape was the pyramid shape.

Although the world’s most popular pyramids belong to Egypt but this is a fact that pyramids were built by more than one civilizations. There are numerous places in this world where the archeologists have found the remains of some pyramids. But the fact remains that the Pyramids of Egypt were the highest in number and the best in maintenance and grandeur. This is the reason that Egyptian pyramids are the most highly visited ones. Stone and brick were used to construct these pyramids. These are huge structures of rock and are beautiful and impressive to look at. One wonders about the engineering capacities of that era after looking at the size of these pyramids.

The Egyptian pyramids are included in the Seven Wonders of the World. The pyramids are one of the most highly visited places around the globe. There are many places where people want to go and visit, but the Egyptian pyramids are one of the best known places in this regard.
